Enemy

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. REMEMBER THAT YOUR FAMILY OF BELIEVERS ALL OVER THE WORLD IS GOING THROUGH THE SAME KIND OF SUFFERING YOU ARE. – 1 Peter 5:8-9

I remember a life changing event from many years ago. Paige and I were having a heated discussion. What I mean by ‘discussion’ is, we were fighting.

Actually, I was standing over her yelling, and she was sitting on the couch listening.

As I was loosing my stuff, I looked at her and saw that a single tear was rolling down her cheek.

And it arrested me.

I collapsed onto the couch and said,
“You are not my enemy, and I am not yours.”

“You are right,” she replied

At the time we were leading a ministry that taught this concept. This was not a new thought for us. But, something changed that night.

Revelation…

The right thought at the right moment.

That night the reality of the age old war that we are all waging went from head knowledge to heart truth.

And we have never been the same.

We have an enemy. A real enemy that we cannot fight, because we can’t even see him.

We need a plan.

And, fortunately, Father gave us one.

Realize that you have an enemy.
Know who the enemy is.
Know who the enemy is not.
Know the enemy’s plan.
Know how to deal with him.

If you don’t see how serious this is, consider this.
“Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So, when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.” – Luke 22:31-32

The Greek word for “sift” = pick to pieces, tear apart, utterly ruin. Our enemy asked to sift Peter, and, by family relation, us. He showed his hand to all of us! His goal is to pick us to pieces, tear us apart and utterly ruin us.

This gets my attention. Our enemy has a plan, and it’s brutal.

HE IS THE ENEMY!

Have you assumed that you had enemies other than THE enemy?

Those who you thought to be enemies are merely distractions.

Wake up.

Stay alert.

“A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For WE ARE NOT FIGHTING AGAINST FLESH-AND-BLOOD ENEMIES, BUT AGAINST EVIL RULERS AND AUTHORITIES OF THE UNSEEN WORLD, AGAINST MIGHTY POWERS IN THIS DARK WORLD, AND AGAINST EVIL SPIRITS IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil.” – Ephesians 6:10-13
