“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,
the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
God blesses those who mourn,
they will be comforted.
God blesses those who are humble,
they will inherit the earth.
God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,
they will be satisfied.
God blesses those who are merciful,
they will be shown mercy.
God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
they will see God.
God blesses those who work for peace,
they will be called the children of God.
God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.
BE VERY GLAD! For a great reward awaits you in heaven.” – Matthew 5:5-12
BE VERY GLAD
To not mention Roe v. Wade today would be to overlook one of the most significant happenings of our time. I don’t write to choose sides or to share my convictions.
I write to encourage.
These are challenging days to follow Christ.
And in the middle of challenge, Father doesn’t leave us with any other option. Only…Be Very Glad.
The word “glad” means: exuberant joy, rejoicing with song, dancing, the feeling experienced in one’s heart especially as a result of God’s grace.
Opposite meanings: shame, grief, the feeling of aloneness, lack of sense of honor, fear, lack of courage, terror.
When attacked with these ‘opposite’ feelings, take notice.
If you feel any of these ‘opposite’ emotions from an attack because of Christ, BE YE GLAD!
The song that I give you today has been playing in the background of my life from college to now.
Stop
Listen
BE VERY GLAD!
In these days of confused situations
In this night of a restless remorse
When the heart and the soul of a nation
Lay wounded and cold as a corpse
From the grave of the innocent Adam
Comes a song bringing joy to the sad
Oh, your cry has been heard and the ransom
Has been paid up in full, be ye glad
Oh, be ye glad
Oh, be ye glad
Every debt that you’ve ever had
Has been paid up in full by the grace of the Lord
Be ye glad, be ye glad, be ye glad
So be like lights on the rim of the water
Giving hope in a storm sea of night
Be a refuge amidst the slaughter
Of these fugitives in their flight
For you are timeless and part of a puzzle
You are winsome and young as a lad
And there is no disease or no struggle
That can pull you from God, be ye glad
Oh, be ye glad
Oh, be ye glad
Every debt that you ever had
Has been paid up in full by the grace of the Lord
Be ye glad, be ye glad, be ye glad
You have been prayed for today.
