“Anyone who is thirsty may come to Me! Anyone who believes in Me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from His heart.’ ” When He said “living water,” He was speaking of The Spirit. John 7

The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird is one of the most incredible planes ever made.

Making its maiden voyage in 1966, the SR-71 was one of the first stealth airplanes, but the most impressive feature was its incredible speed. The Blackbird still holds the record of the fastest air-breathing manned aircraft ever made. It flew so high and so fast that it could outrace USSR anti-aircraft missiles!

But where there is speed, there is friction, heat and metal expansion.

The SR-71 had to be incredibly resistant to huge temperature fluctuations and much “new” technology was used in its design. Structure made from titanium and polymer composites. Wing skin corrugated instead of smooth. Windshield made from quartz and fused ultrasonically to the frame. Fuselage panels loosely fitted to the frame allowing for expansion.

Metals expand when heated and shrink when cooling down. There were no seals flexible and durable enough to deal with the huge temperature and shrinking-expansion cycles. Fuel was used to cool the titanium surfaces – it was simply circulated behind them. Because pieces were fitted loosely and only came into alignment when properly expanded during a high-speed flight, fuel leaked through them and every single one of the SR-71’s leaked fuel when sitting on the runway, and would stop leaking only after takeoff when it heated up.

The Blackbird leaked BY DESIGN, leaving behind a trail of fuel where it had been.

LEAK BY DESIGN

Like the Blackbird, we are designed to leak.

The “living water” that flows from Jesus heart flows directly through our heart leaving a trail as we “leak” everywhere we go.

We can’t get away from The design.

When we are walking in The Spirit, we just naturally “leak” living water on everyone we touch.

We leak, so we need to be filled constantly by The Spirit.

The book of Acts tells the story of many of the events that shaped the early church. Miracles, healings, visions, huge decisions, lives well lived all show up in this book.

A phrase used many times in Acts is “being filled with The Spirit” – something amazing happened. The phrase is literally “having JUST been filled with The Spirit”.

In other words, “being filled” is part of the “leaking” design.

Pretty cool, huh?

Now, since we leak by design, what happens when we have a “bad day”? In other words, what happens when we choose to “walk in the flesh” instead of “walking in The Spirit”?

Instead of leaking living water, we leak septic water. Sewer water.

YUCK!

STOP

Are you walking in The Spirit or the flesh right now?

Are you leaking living water, or sewage water?

For the sake of everyone around you, choose wisely.

LEAK BY DESIGN

You have been prayed for today.
