Scarred

By No Comments3 min read

“I praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works, my soul knows this very well.” – Psalms 139:14

A while back, I experienced some pretty hard stuff.
Not whining, just stating fact.

One day would be great. Then a really hard one. Then a couple of “ok” ones.

Then, out of the blue, the enemies lies…

“If you hadn’t said “yes” to follow this crazy thing that you THOUGHT you heard HIM say, your life would be so much better right now!”

“Are you sure that you even heard Him at all?”

“If He loved you He wouldn’t have messed up your life.”

The enemy spoke this to me over and over.

At first, I ignored him. He’s a liar, and I teach and encourage other people to overcome his lies.
I kept moving forward.
I was strong and capable.
I overcame.

And then another hard thing came. He spoke a little louder, more insistent…more believable.

And once again, I overcame.

After many renditions of this same story…I was so beat up, so wounded, so scarred…I listened to the lies.

If you speak a lie loud enough, long enough, someone will listen.

I listened, and went to a pretty dark place.

And then one day, Father spoke to me through the voice of a long dead “light bearer,”

“The enemy lies.” She said, “It’s what he does.”
“Don’t listen to him at all. JUST TURN TO JESUS.”

And that’s what I did.

I turned to Jesus.

And in him I re-found THE ONE who understands me. He and I had a long talk. I talked and He listened, and He talked and I listened.

I am scarred by the hard things.

I suffer from PTSD coming from many years and through many circumstances. It’s there, and it’s real.

SCARRED

Someone reading this might understand how I feel.

We have all dealt with a lot.

We are all…

Pandemic overcomers
Racial overcomers
Election overcomers
War overcomers

Could it be that we are all scarred and suffering from some degree of PTSD?

And in the middle of the struggle – the attacks, the war, the anxiety – THERE STANDS TRUTH in the form of The Holy Spirit leading us to Jesus who in turn takes us to Father. And as we listen to The Holy Spirit and look into the loving eyes of Jesus and climb into the lap of Father, we find rest and healing for our scarred souls.

If you can relate to this today, STOP and look at Jesus.

Jesus has scars, just like us.

“We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.” Hebrews 4:15-16

Scarred

Scars can either remind us of harsh wounding, or magnificent healing.

You have been prayed for today.
