“Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it. And many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:
‘Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Blessed is the kingdom of our father David That comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!’ ” – Mark 11
This is the week known by many as “holy week”. This is the week that millions remember Jesus riding donkey-back into Jerusalem with a fanfare of palm branches and commoners’ voices.
He knew.
Jesus knew that these very same people, now cheering His way into town, would be calling for his death in just a few hours.
He knew that His friends would behave cowardly.
He knew that He would be betrayed.
He knew that He would be illegally tried and unjustly convicted.
He knew that He would be beaten beyond recognition.
He knew that He would take the weight of all sin upon His shoulders and die… because “…While we were all sinners Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
And He knew that He would rise from the grave to complete the 4000 year old prophecy.
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” – Lamentations 3:22-23
“The steadfast love of The Lord never ceases…”
STEADFAST
This is the reason that we remember all that happened this week.
Father loved us…from the very beginning, He loves us, and no matter what we have done, are currently doing, or will do, He will never stop loving us. NOT because we are worth loving, but rather because His love is steadfast and never ceasing.
I hope that the seeds of His love, mercy and faithfulness, are beginning to take root that they grow into a fruit-bearing tree in your life.
Are you lonely? Thank Father for His steadfast love for you.
Are you scared? Thank Father for His steadfast love for you.
Are you confused? Thank Father for His steadfast love for you.
Overwhelmed, about to give up, the weight of the world on your shoulders… The steadfast love of The Lord never ceases.
Are you joyful and full of Father’s strength? Are you grateful and blessed? STEADFAST.
Calling a few days ‘holy’ and remembering events that occurred 2000 years ago, while good, does not make the week holy.
Joining Christ in Father’s never ending steadfast love…joining Jesus in the fellowship of His sufferings…joining in makes the week holy.
Join in the holiness of Father’s steadfast love right now. Talk about it at every meal this week. Receive His steadfast love, and join Him in being steadfast in your love.
Remember Father’s steadfast love, and make the week holy.
