“When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with sword in hand. Joshua went up to him and demanded, “Are you friend or foe?”

“Neither one,” he replied. “I am the commander of the LORD’s army.”

At this, Joshua fell with his face to the ground in reverence. “I am at your command,” Joshua said. “What do you want your servant to do?” The commander of the LORD’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did as he was told.

Now the gates of Jericho were tightly shut because the people were afraid of the Israelites. No one was allowed to go out or in. But the LORD said to Joshua, “I have given you Jericho” – Joshua 5:13-15, 6:1-2

Winston Churchill had many qualities. Privileged, receiving the best education, keen intellect, well trained. Courage and bravery proven in battle.

Passionate, obstinate, blunt, honest.
He drank and smoked constantly.
Churchill is perhaps the human reason that the world is not under German rule today. In WW2 his tenacity against overwhelming odds, both from his own government and from Germany, was inspiring to a country under terrible attack. Inspiring not only England, but all allied forces to go on to the end.
No one EVER described Churchill as ‘simple’.
And yet, when it mattered the most, he had the ability to focus and keep it simple.

In a famous speech given in the heat of WW2, Churchill stood before a group of students and said, “Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never – in nothing, great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.”
Churchill had learned to filter everything through the filter of simply never giving in.

“I have given you Jericho.”

Like Churchill, Joshua had lived a lot of life and he had come to see everything through the filter of simple.
He heard the commander of God’s army, and positioned himself accordingly. Then He heard God say that He had given Jericho to Joshua.

Joshua heard, received, took the correct position, and acted…

SIMPLE
What has God given to you today?
Spouse?
Kids?
Job?
Friends?
Are you on a complicated path?
Does life feel simple, or anything but?
First – Listen to God.
Second – Receive what He says.
Third – Position yourself correctly.
Fourth – Take action.
SIMPLE

Get something to write on.

Consider the things that God has given to you.
Ask Father what He is saying to you about these things.
Ask for your spouse, kids, job, friends…
Listen and receive whatever He says. It may be some big stuff or it may sound small…but, is anything that HE says small?

Write what He says.

Now, position yourself correctly. Humble yourself, and ask Him for help.

Lastly, take action.

Life is easier when simplified.
So, simplify. Do it now.
You have been prayed for today.
